This private tour is a more in-depth version of the 3.5 hours public tour known as “The Best of Kent”. This exclusive trip aims to give visitors an insight into what is uniquely British and very particular to the area - its beautiful countryside, historic castles and iconic coastline.
This includes visiting the White Cliffs of Dover, medieval Canterbury, and some of the most stunning scenery and villages in the country - the very best of Kent in one day!

As we leave Canterbury, your private driver guide will stop briefly at the remains of UNESCO World Heritage sites of St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin’s church and explain their unique significance, particularly to the introduction of Christianity to Britain.

You will be taken to the picture-perfect villages of Wickhambreaux and Ickham with their charming churches, country pubs and the village green – both great places to admire the beauty of this uniquely British scene.

You will be taken on to the iconic White Cliffs of Dover. This superb vantage point provides outstanding views of Dover Castle and harbour, the English Channel and, on a clear day, the nearby coastline of France. This is the ideal location in which to take photographs and experience this iconic landmark and learn about its importance to potential invaders as the 'key to unlocking England'.

As we head back towards Canterbury for lunch, you will be taken through a number of picturesque villages in the Kentish Downs, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These wooded valleys, vineyards and Norman churches provide a stunning backdrop for photos should you wish to stop. Amongst the villages that we view is Denton and ‘The Jackdaw’ pub which featured in the classic 1968 film, 'The Battle of Britain'. This pub provided the location for the actor, Christopher Plummer who played Squadron Leader Harvey, to drive to The Jackdaw in order to meet his wife played by Susannah York. Guests will be able to stop here for for photographs.

After leaving Denton, guests will be driven through the scenic country lanes and villages of Barham, Bishopsbourne and Patrixbourne

You will view a beautiful and historic English country house from 1638 with its 'Downton Abbey-esque' interior and delightful walled gardens.

You will be driven to Canterbury and stop for lunch and refreshments. Your expert local guide will then take you for a short walking tour through the city of Canterbury. Afterwards you will have the option to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Canterbury Cathedral (admission not included) which records over 1400 years of British history including how Christianity was brought to the country by St Augustine in AD597. You could also enjoy a walk or visit charming and characterful places in which to eat and drink including a medieval timbered pub recorded in Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales'. Here you can also sample a range of beer and other drinks from Britain's oldest brewery founded in 1698.
